About NCEATutor
A small, NZ-owned platform built by a parent, for parents.

Kia ora, I'm Bakhtiyar
I'm a Hobsonville-based developer and dad of four. My kids are still a few years away from NCEA, but watching older students and their parents stress over exams made me start planning early.
I began looking into the usual tutoring options – big global marketplaces and local NZ platforms – and kept running into the same issues: lots of subjects, lots of fees, and not much that felt simple, NCEA-specific and transparent.
I wanted something better for when my own kids reach those years – and for other Kiwi families right now. A platform that does one job well: connect families with good NCEA tutors, then get out of the way.
That's why I built NCEATutor.co.nz.

Why NCEATutor is Different
NCEATutor isn't trying to be a global "everything" marketplace. It's a small, NZ-owned platform that focuses just on what matters for Kiwi students.
NCEA only
We focus on NCEA Levels 1–3, not "all subjects for all countries". Everything – from profile fields to search filters – is built around what students actually sit in New Zealand.
No commission on lessons
Tutors keep 100% of what families pay them for lessons. We don't sit in the middle taking a cut from every hour they teach.
You deal directly with the tutor
Once you find a tutor you like, you talk to them directly. You agree the rate, schedule, and how you want to run lessons – no paywalls just to see contact details.
Human-reviewed profiles
Every tutor profile is reviewed by me or someone on our small NZ-based team before it appears on the site. We'd rather grow slowly and keep standards high than become a huge, unfiltered directory.
Built by a parent, not just a company
This isn't a faceless overseas platform. I'm building NCEATutor now so that by the time my own kids hit NCEA, there's a simple, honest place to find help – and your family can use it too.
